Ok, so yeah, Dreamhost bought me a new monitor.
To be precise, it's a 20" Dell jobbie that was on sale. It's very nice, and very wide, and is pretty much the same thing i have at work.
Well, sorta.
You see, i'm trying something a little different with it.
i figure, i spend most of my time reading web-pages, which are almost always far longer than wider, so why not have the monitor reflect that?
Cool thing is that my video card not only supports two monitors (so i can slave the older one), but also does the 90° rotation bit.
i'm probably going to ruin myself from ergonomic abuse, but i don't care right now. If anyone decides to start a pool on when i get tired of this and switch back, i want 10%.
final answer: less than 24 hours. i was getting a bit of a crick in my neck looking up toward the top of the screen and then down to the bottom for applications. i may still swivel it from time to time, but probably not a permanent swap.
Nah. You're not really cool. Really cool would be having dual monitors and having both of them sideways.
