:: Listening Overseas

Apparently, the RIAA really doesn't want us to listen to their music, which is actually fine with me.

i mean, it sucks for all the companies out there that wanted to play popular tracks, but if the RIAA doesn't want us to listen to them via the internet (because, let's face it, the alternative is less than appealing), that's fine too. Unfortunately, the structure of this also includes sites, stations and channels that don't play anything from the RIAA, and could be playing nothing but CC stuff would still have to pay $500 per "channel". (That means that if you've got a site with a country, a rock, a rap and a jazz channel, they're looking at forking over $2000 minimum. That's regardless of any royalty payments that may be required.)

So the question i have for you all is what international web-radio stations are there? Yes, i know that "custom radio" streams aren't may not be affected by this*, which i believe includes sites like Launchcast, pandora, last.fm and others like it, but sometimes it's nice to break out of the box that these services try to make for you. Are there any streamed UK stations that might have something interesting on them? What about a few Canadian broadcasts that might be good to listen to on occasion?

* Ok, so "custom" radio stations are ones that allow you control over the stream, (e.g. you can skip songs) vs. ones that are pure streams (like you can hear from XM radio, or Live365.) Having re-read some of the proceeding notes(pdf) footnote 71 mentions that these sorts of stations are in the gray zone about whether or not they're really affected. So, yeah, it may be that we're totally screwed regardless.
