i don' t know why i didn't think of it sooner, but it just struck me that as of this Saturday, the iPod Touch is dead.
Why do i make that assumption? Well, it's fairly simple. Right now, there are two Apple Pocket Pals. The iTouch, and the far more profitable iPhone. This Saturday, Apple will start delivering brand new shiny iPads to the religious. There's already a huge swell of buzz around how those new apps are "better" because of the larger display oh yeah, and they generally cost more. That means that if folks are willing to pony up $5 per app rather than $2, there's a lot less reason for developers to waste time building cheaper apps.
Add in Uncle Steve's statement that the iTouch is merely a gateway drug for the iPhone, and, well, hopefully you're seeing the writing on the wall too.
Needless to say, that news saddens me a little.
While i finally got swayed to an iTouch, i still don't see the value of an iPhone, notably with poor service and the general flakiness i've seen with the iTouch. Plus while i get that these are the modern equivalent of a VCR, i still think that if i'm going to be lugging around a $500 device the size of a sheet of paper, i should be at least able to do more than one thing at a time on it. But then, that's me.
So, looks like me techno-curse is still in full power. Yay, me!
