:: First, we kill all spammers

Well, apparently spammers are exploiting blogs now.

Delightful.

i'll be going through my code and figuring out any holes i can plug, but off hand, expect your comment urls to require authorization.

This hack has been around for a while. But the spam doesn't appear in comments, it shows up in the referral pages. And, since you don't list your referrers on your front page, you don't really have to worry about it.

Well, other than by being annoyed when you webalize your logs.

I first learned about this on BlogRoots, and I recommend the MetaFilter Thread about it as a good read.

    Thanks. Interesting read.
Ultimately, i'm still angry at myself for not being a good little paranoid. In theory, any part of this could be abused, including comments. It's simply a matter of time. I just need to go through and make things more aggresively clever than they are.
