(Yep, another automated post since i'm probably not only off-line, but several miles away from one.)
Recently i found a site called Sam's Toy Box They guy is a collector of toys, but the thing that really stood out was that he had a collection of toys i remember looking at as a kid. i never got most of them probably because my parents were more interested in keeping the house from burning down.
Seriously, in this era of ultra safe toys, i'm reasonably sure that the Metal Molder working smelter kit would probably be pretty high on the list, even if you can make a flying skull, and followed the directions.
The one that i did have was the Strange Change machine, which i believe was capable of pulling enough amps out of the wall to make the main line glow. This thing wasn't really as remarkable or had anywhere near the saftey controls of the Slag-o-matic. In effect, it was a hotplate with a cake cover stuck on top of it. Seriously, i should have brought it to college with me.
i didn't because somewhere around my 12th year i forgot to turn it off and reduced something vaugely green to a smoking blackish lump of well… something vaguely not-as-green. Fortunately the cake cover managed to conceal most of the smell, well, until i removed the cover.
*sigh*
You know, i miss those kinds of toys.
Sure, i could just put smiley faces and SpongeBob stickers on an acetylene tourch, but you know, it's just not the same.
