i'll admit that i tend to be more a "Summer" person. Anne Marie tends more toward "Autumn".

i'll also admit that some part of my interest in the period of perihelion probably is due in some part to the general fashions preferred by half the population during that time.

Still, as the year winds it's way to the end, there's at least one time when both my wife and i are in agreement. October.

i like October. There's still the chance that you get a day warm enough for shorts. You might get a day where it rains, and the leaves just start turning but are sufficiently attached to the tree you don't have to rake. Plus, there's Halloween. Seriously, you can't beat halloween. There's candy involved. It wins.

i've already got the lightsticks, yet to pick up the candy bars, and today we're heading out to the local pumpkin patches to pick out a few gords. We actually tried doing that a bit yesterday, except we didn't really find any. Instead we passed by a few roadside stands you always wanted to stop at only to find out why you don't, had a pretty good lunch somewhere we weren't quite planning on stopping at, and ate pie. Good pie. Hey, it's October, that's a good time to eat pie.

So, today, we're going to be stopping off at the local pumpkin patches, at least one Halloween superstore, and maybe fill a thermos or two with hot cider for a longish walk around the neighborhood.

Yeah, i miss summer already since sweaters are a poor substitute for tank tops, but at least there's pie.
