Just seeing if i can post from my phone.

Ah good, i can.

To be honest, i'm both annoyed and thankful to sprint about the new phone. See, one of the things i tend to use said phone for is as a wireless net device. This is particularly useful when using the bluetooth connection for the laptop. Of course, someone at sprint realized that was very useful and decided that not charging outrageously for it would be a bad business decision. To the point where they actually hide this tidbit from customers. G'won, try and find where they charge you $40 for Phone as Modem services.

Ok, i also kinda knew that going in.

Where i'm thankful is that this kinda got me thinking about how i was planning on using the phone. Truth is, i not only didn't really need to spend $40 a month, i didn't need to use the phone for that sort of thing at all.

Oh, don't get me wrong. i fully plan on using every second of the unlimited network time that i get (not to be confused with the talk time, i'll drop that down once the rebate goes through). No, i'm talking about that nice high-speed link going to my phone with the albeit crappy browser and keypad. Truth is, it works well enough for what i need. There's a pretty good browser (not the one that came on the phone) and newsreader, an SSH client, IM & email built in (i'd use the web interface anyway) and i can look around for lots of other J2ME apps to do whatever else i need.

Heck, i figure that if i'm out and about and need to get a connection for the laptop, it's not like they're hard to find, even remotely.

Besides, maybe being unconnected every now and then might be a good thing.

And it's a helluva lot easier to tote around than the other brick.
