Actually, having had made that exact mistake in the past, no i didn't scream. I chalked it up as a learning experience and made sure not to let that happen to me again. (In that case, what should have been a $10 fill up turned into a $30 fill up that, thanks to the wonders of automated gas pumps, I was unable to correct.)

I realize that my actions (good and bad) have consequences. That's one of the reasons that I held off posting this until after I knew the station had fixed the problem.
