Yay! The incredibly honest folks at my car wash found the 2GB Nano i thought i had lost months ago.
Boo! i had already bought a replacement Nano for Y!Local when i had left a couple of weeks ago.
*groan*
Of course, now i'm wondering what i could do with it. i've already got an 8+2GB Sansa that works better. For giggles i put rockbox on it, and while it was fun to consider all the things i could do with it afterwards, the font was tiny and the interface was flat out ugly. Fortunately, you can skin rockbox with something a little less like something a person who grew up using twm in minimalist settings would use. That, of course, left dealing with the rest of the newly changed gizmo.
Loading up tunes was fairly straight-forward (a refreshing change from the original iPod in that files copied to the USB drive were found and played. Who'd'a thunk THAT would be a good idea?) still, it does make me wonder what other things i can do with this. It's kinda funny how the more useful something is the less likely it is to be the way it was intended to be originally used. (Of course, playing Doom on it leaves something to be desired, but that's beside the point.)
Oddly, there's something to that, and the sooner i can drill that into a few folks heads, the better.
Huh, perhaps this thing will be useful after all…
Heh, not quite telling, but no, it wasn't for the nike thing. It was for a thing to load local listings and maps onto ipods. I built it about a year ago and even demo'd it to a few folks in Apple. Haven't heard boo from them since. They're probably working with Google on it by now.
I'd show you the hack, except that parts are broken outside the firewall (no surprise).
While I can neither confirm nor deny any statements about any project in development, nor am I at liberty to discuss planned efforts or projects, I can say that in the future, your left pinky toe will never be lost.

Why did you need one from Local? The nike thing?
