What is it that makes dangerous things attractive? Think about it, folks romance lightning, wild fires, raging rivers, and pandas without thinking that that stuff can all pretty much kill you. Still, i suppose it's the danger of things that we love.
Driving around a bit yesterday, we passed along lanes filled with eucalyptus trees and scrub growth. All of which so incredibly dry you could hear it as you passed. Sure they look pretty, but those trees are natures road flares, with the added benefit of being full of highly flammable sap that literally jets out setting anything next to it (short of rock) on fire. Get a grove of them, and well, you start to understand why fires around here last for days before anyone can get a handle on them.
Stupid thing is that area filled with pyrotechnic problems is also some of the priciest realestate in the south bay. That's because it's pretty.
The wooded hills, the rolling country are just right for folks with money to burn (in more ways than one i'd suppose).
Sorry, but give me a nice ranch in a fairly sedate neighborhood free from towering combustibles, tornadoes, floods or most other issues and i'll do just fine thanks. Well, until the earthquake hits.
Bother.
