::Visions of Pledge Week

i can always tell when the local PBS stations are doing pledge week, they always have some Visions of … .

You know the shows, they're HD spectactulars shot from low flying helicopters while pleasantly droning announcers describe the view over classical music. They use that so you don't hear the terrified screams of people wondering why there's a low flying helicopter outside their living room window. They're like travelogues from Godzilla's point of view, really. i suppose my tendency to watch these while making EEEEE-YAAAARRRRRRG noises and holding a blow torch in my mouth probably doesn't help much, but hey, it's a hobby.

Needless to say, i'm still waiting for when they run low on these. After all, our pledge weeks go for about two weeks, and they do them twice a year. Can't drag out that damn Ireland flyby eight times in a row. Gotta spice things up with a few other locales. i'm waiting for the US version. You know Visions of Sheboygan or possibly Visions of Gary, Indiana. Ok, so it'd probably consist mostly of 40 minutes of them circling last years Chamber of Commerce winner, but hey, those marigolds really bring out the shine from the gas pump.

Perhaps they'll just use one of those diffusion lenses they used to use on old episodes of Star Trek.

Or possibly they'll just paint over the lens and hope nobody notices that they're spending 60 minutes watching a High Definition, semi-blurred gray image.

With 20 minute pledge break every 10 minutes.

Because, THAT'S good TV.

Damn, need to refill the torch so i can set the pledge hosts on fire.

Visions of South Central Chicago could be interesting.
