Well, since everyone is disclosing statistics for their site, why can't i play along? Well, one big reason is because interstate on ramps on Tristan da Cunha get several magnitudes more traffic than i do, but that's probably beside the point.
So, how did 2008 pan out for me? Well, thanks to my install of Piwik which i installed about five months ago, i've got a few numbers for those that, you know, care.
- Total hits so far
- 1,580,419 (includes bots, crawlers, monkeys, etc. Ignore this number.)
- Top 5 browsers:
-
- Firefox 3.0 – FAR ahead of everyone else (by a factor of 3 compared to #2)
- Firefox 2.0
- Internet Explorer 7.0 – less than half of #2
- Safari 525.2 - About tied with IE 7
- Internet Explorer 6.0 -quad digit, barely
- Hits from search engines
-
- Google – 483 hits
- Yahoo – 400 hits
- Live – 20 hits
Others were in the "noise" category
- Crap folks searched for
-
- My name ("jr conlin" or variations which is oddly disturbing)
- CURL functions and related stuff
- compaq v6000 wireless (guess these fail quite a bit more than i suspected.)
- Those crappy Microsoft Hiring Quiz questions (wonder how many folks used my answers?)
- Howie Coat (i suspect it's probably driven by something deeply disturbing.)
- Peak visiting Hours
- Between 8AM and 12PM. Apparently, i'm part of quite a few folks morning constitutional.
- Top Referring Sites
-
- Reddit – Between leaving yahoo and a few other posts, i was reasonably popular there.
- Google – Folks be searching (and presumably horribly disappointed
- news.ycombinator.com (yeah, me neither)
- popurls.com (the aggregater aggregater)
- my.yahoo.com
- jeremy.zawodny.com (which only proves how much more traffic he gets. Perhaps i should start tossing in aircraft terms?)
- Loyalty
- 10% of the folks that have ever visited once have returned. 90% have run screaming to the far reaches of the web.
Feel free to make of these what you will. As for me? i'm hoping that i can turn them into a cure for insomnia.
