i've been listening to a great deal of not radio at work.
Since that heady time of aught-five, radio has not been quite as favorable an entertainment source as it once was. There are still a few stations that are definitely worth listening to, but not quite as often. Even on light rotation, one tends to hear a lot of familiar music and that's moderately irritating.
So, i've been on the search for sources of new (or at least newish) music. Oddly, the bulk of what i've been adding onto my playlist has been from Canada. Partly because i found that the R3-30 podcast is generally good for two or three songs a month. Not that i have anything against my upstairs neighbors musical offerings, but there's nothing i've found that's comparable.
There are a few "Song A [period]" type podcasts, which are nice enough, i'd suppose. There are also the usual online radio suspects (Pandora, last.fm, radio.io, etc.) but after [total periods]*5 minutes, pickin's get rather slim.
So i'm kinda curious what folks are listening to. Are there any good weekly podcasts that have decent tracks or is it all fairly bleak?
A good and relatively recent thread on MetaFilter with a ton of podcast recommendations: http://ask.metafilter.com/115666/Help-me-find-widely-ranging-podcasts
Personally, I'm more into album-length mixes and downloads. Low Light Mixes (http://lowlightmixes.blogspot.com/) is fantastic. Also well worthy of mention is CBC Radio's Concerts on Demand series (http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/cod/) which is streaming-only (irritating; I've taken to recording the ones I really like in Cool Edit in real time), but has a VAST VAST VAST wealth of music.
Finally, Free Albums Galore (http://freealbums.blogsome.com/) is a great resource for full-length albums released for free (legally) by their creators on the Internet.
Whew!

Jamendo's worth a look. It's all free (as in beer and speech) albums. The signal-to-noise ratio isn't great, but there are some really good albums there.
